Tàndems URV

Do you want to meet new people, practice languages and increase your cultural knowledge whilst chatting or walking round the city? Then sign up for Tàndems URV!

What is a tandem?

It is an informal way of learning languages through conversation with another person who speaks the language that you want to learn. Tandems are not, therefore, classes but rather sessions that develop freely in the manner decided by each pair of participants.

How does it work?

You need to sign up as a participant in Tàndems URV. The Language and Publications Service puts the participants into pairs and sends them information on how to organise their first meeting.

The pair can meet where and when they like (a minimum of one hour a week is recommended, half an hour in each language). Each pair can decide to extend the activity in any way that they like. At the end of each semester the Language Service sends each pair an evaluation questionnaire.

Who can take part?

Anybody (URV staff and students and anyone from outside the university).

How and when do I sign up?

You must complete this form. You can start at any time during the academic year.

Why should I do a tandem?

A tandem allows you to practice and improve your knowledges of another language and to get to know people from other cultures. They are an ideal complement to formal learning and can be adapted to the needs and availability of each participant.
